When Bathsheba Everdene inherits her uncle’s farm, she surprises employees and locals alike by choosing to manage the farm business herself. But her life is soon complicated by the arrival of three men – the dashing Sergeant Troy, wealthy Farmer Boldwood and loyal Gabriel Oak.
To mark the 55th anniversary of the premiere of John Schlesinger’s Far From the Madding Crowd, Picturedrome Cinemas are partnering with Wessex Museums to screen the iconic Hardy adaptation in the towns where it was filmed.
Starring Julie Christie, Alan Bates, Peter Finch and Terence Stamp.
From 28 May – 30 October 2022, Terence Stamp’s costume from the film will be on display at Wiltshire Museum, while the original handwritten manuscript of the famous ‘The Shearing Supper’ scene will be on display at Dorset Museum, as part of Hardy’s Wessex.
