Hard hats, high vis and hitting the heights!

Three team members in hard hats and high vis jackets in Dorset Museum
We are really excited that team members, Kristina Broughton and Dr Anjana Khatwa, are speakers at the Museum Ideas Conference 2020 – a highly prestigious international event!
As it’s a virtual conference, they produced a video in which they discuss how museums can better engage with underserved audiences. It was recorded at Dorset Museum, still a construction site, by the museum’s new Head of Marketing, David Goulden. Impressive partnership effort!

The whole Museum Ideas Conference is online and free this year due to Covid-19. This is the impressive line-up of talks.

Sawfish are also called carpenter sharks...but they are rays, not sharks!

There’s also a species called a sawshark, but that’s, well, a shark!

What the heck is a lek?

Males great bustards perform spectacular courtship displays, gathering at a ‘lek’ or small display ground to try to impress the females.

Road Runner!

The great bustard has a dignified slow walk but tends to run when disturbed, rather than fly.

Belly Buster!

The hen-bird on display at The Salisbury Museum was one of the last great bustards to be eaten in the town!
